Cruising @ Croft

So following no cycling since Sunday, due to a sore knee, we travelled over to Croft to enjoy a quick Criterium to get back into racing… DW were out in force with Stephen J, Phil S and Sam B joining me for the first Cat4 race. Surprisingly the sun shone and despite the strong winds the pace was swift, with multiple attacks each lap although non with any sticking power. The bunch was a bit close at times, as alot of riders in this catergory are new to group riding, with me sticking towards the front of things to avoid accidents… anyway at the finish line Sam B had an awesome debut DW ride to finish 2nd, I was somewhere in the top 20 (need to work on my sprint!) 1st and probably only Lady, with Phil S (who had made his finishing attack a lap to early?!) finishing just behind… little chicken legs Stephen J found that late nights (DJing) and long midweek rides are not conducive to crit racing, dropping out half way but I am sure he will come back stronger next time.

nice to be back on the summer bike 🙂

Lowlight of the trip was forgetting my helmet! doh! Luckly Zack lent me his XL kask skid lid, so despite looking like a mushroom (small head + big helmet =D ) my brains were nice and safe and I got to race…

Lap cool down and post race 3 mile run, offroad 2 laps round the edge of the track, and it was time to watch the E1234 handicap race. Zack W, Boyband Billy, Nick Armo and Mark P set a blistering pace round the track, made even tougher by the strong winds, with the best result coming from Mark who rode strong in a breakway to come home in 9th.

back in the bunch...

Curry tonight, then off to Stainland tommorow for the last race in the WYWL series
