Over the past few weeks I have got some cracking sessions in the bank, on Saturday I had a particularly good steeple session which indicated I am pretty much back on course for a pb over the chase…. it might be late in the season but I am determined not to leave chasing my ambitions till next year.
On Tuesday I went down to Trafford with Mike and Zack for a crack at a flat 3k. Pre race I actually felt awful (and the following day I woke up with a cold) but post warm up I was ready to give it my best and ran round to a respectable pb time. I would have rather run closer to 9 minutes but my target was to run round in 74second laps to hit 9.15 and I managed that bang on the nose (making up for a slow first lap and middle laps with a fast final 800m).
Photo with one of #baxtersfavourites Nathan Dunn who has been whooping me in track sessions recently – and who has already set loads of pb’s over the summer (but my tip is that he will go much faster once he sorts out his pacing in races and in training… he sets off like a nutcase!)
Next up I am taking part in the England AAA / Intercounty champs representing Yorkshire over the 3000m Chase.
